Choose the lifestyle that best matches your own, based on activity level.
This will give you an idea of how many calories you need to burn and
where to get them. This is calculated according to an ideal daily intake
ratio of 40% protein, 20% carbohydrates and 40% fat from total calories.
Of the three food groups, 1 gram of protein equals 4 calories, 1 gram of
carbohydrates equals 4 calories and 1 gram of fat equals 9 calories.
Remember that this is a starting point for those aiming to burn fat.

*Your BMR is the base metabolic rate which is the amount of calories
utilised per day when your body is resting - this is the minimum required
caloric intake. **This represents the total calories required daily to
perform the everyday activities associated with this lifestyle.
1. OFFICE WORKER: very little activity; no exercise; body fat is high.
2. STOREMAN: no formal exercise program; enjoys TV and video
games; body fat is high.
3. CONSTRUCTION WORKER: physical work; no formal exercise regime;
enjoys a drink after work; body fat is above average; likes take
away foods.
4. EXECUTIVE: works in an office but takes opportunity to walk when
possible to meetings etc; enjoys a workout at the gym or runs daily;
body fat about average.
5. WEEKEND WARRIOR: a salesperson for example - spending some
time in the office, some driving, some at meetings; makes time to
train hard; competes in triathlons [short course]; body fat below
average.
6. COMPUTER OPERATOR: works long hours in front of a screen but still
takes time out to jog or take a brisk walk daily plus some home
training; body fat about average; maintains a regular eating
pattern.
7. LANDSCAPE GARDENER: engages in hard and physical work daily;
likes to do some weights; body fat is low; lean hard body type.
8. CARPENTER: independent worker on the move all day; supervises
others but gets involved with hands on; some administrative work;
regular meals; body fat low.
9. PERSONAL TRAINER: trains hard with weights, plus cardio work and
activities with clients; on the move daily, working with people;
diligent with diet, eating several small high-protein meals per day;
keeps body fat very low.
Note:
· Figures are based on a male aged 30, height 178 cm [70 inches]
and 75 kg [165lb].
· The amount of body fat has been varied to correlate with the type
of activities that the individual may be doing.
· An average healthy level of body fat for a male is approximately
15%.
· More specific recommendations to achieve maximum fat burn
would require more precise tracking of your activities, weight and
food intake over several days.
